Boppy vs My Brest Friend

Posted on Dec 2, 2017 by in Baby, Pregnancy & Nursing | 0 comments

First off, I want to say that I actually own both of these pillows and love them both! They each have their benefits and drawbacks and I’ll go into those in detail. Although I prefer keeping my life very minimal, I find that I can get use out of both pillows. I started out with the Boppy because it’s what I registered for as it appeared to be more comfortable. After the first few days of figuring out how to nurse my baby, I realized I would really benefit from the Brest Friend pillow and I ended up ordering it. If I had to live with only one of these nursing pillows, I would have chosen the Brest friend. Let me tell you why…

My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow

– Gives some back support because it wraps all the way around your waist

– Supports a new baby better because it’s flat and firm

– Doesn’t leave a gap between your body and the cushion so Baby stays closer to you

– Adjustable strap allows it to fit your new postpartum body and continues to fit as you shrink over time

– Has a pocket attached to the front for storing things like your water bottle and cell phone

– Can be cumbersome to get situated as it has a buckle to fuss with

Boppy Nursing Pillow

– Easier to get set up with because it doesn’t have a strap to buckle around your waist

– More versatile to use for things besides just nursing

– Can be used to prop up an older baby who is learning how to sit up on their own

– Can feel less supportive for holding baby up because it leaves a gap between your body and the cushion as it has rounded edges

– Can fit funny before your tummy begins to shrink in the first few weeks postpartum

Both pillows

– Have easy to wash, removable covers

– Have water proof covers that are sold separately

– Are comfortable to nurse with

– Give an older baby something to prop up on for tummy time

Best nursing pillow?!

I say the Brest Friend because it works best for newborn babies, and that is the time when you’ll need a nursing pillow the most! It’s more supportive and adjustable than the Boppy, and having the pocket for your water bottle is really handy! However, I would have to add that the Boppy is, in my opinion, a better pillow for after baby is a little bit older as it is so versatile and supportive enough for a baby with head control. I’m glad I ended up owning both pillows because I kept one in the bedroom and one in the living room. They both have been very useful to me! I hope that helps if you are currently deciding which pillow to register for!
